Volumetric procedural models for shape representation

چکیده

This article describes a volumetric approach for procedural shape modeling and new Procedural Shape Modeling Language (PSML) that facilitates the specification of these models. PSML provides programmers ability to describe shapes in terms their 3D elements where each element may be semantic group objects, e.g., brick wall, or an indivisible object, individual brick. this manner creation models more closely approximate organization structure real-world counterparts. As such, users query information such as number, position, orientation volume which cannot provided using surface based model-building techniques. also number language-specific capabilities allow rich variety context-sensitive behaviors post-processing functions. These include object-oriented model design, methods querying component-based access components perform Boolean operations on parts. is open-source includes freely available tutorial videos, demonstration code integrated development environment support writing programs.

3D ShapeNets: A Deep Representation for Volumetric Shape Modeling

3D shape is a crucial but heavily underutilized cue in today’s computer vision system, mostly due to the lack of a good generic shape representation. With the recent availability of inexpensive 2.5D depth sensors (e.g. Microsoft Kinect), it is becoming increasingly important to have a powerful 3D shape model in the loop. Apart from object recognition on 2.5D depth maps, recovering these incompl...

Evaluating Qualitative Models of Shape Representation

Creating intelligent sketch-based educational software requires representing sketches the way a person would. Here, we evaluate several qualitative models of shape representation to determine which one best matches human judgments. The models differ in a) the way they segment an object’s contour into meaningful edges; and b) their level of detail for describing a shape. Our analysis indicates o...

Activity Representation Using 3D Shape Models

We present a method for characterizing human activities using 3D deformable shape models. The motion trajectories of points extracted from objects involved in the activity are used to build models for each activity, and these models are used for classification and detection of unusual activities. The deformable models are learnt using the factorization theorem for nonrigid 3D models. We present...

Robust shape normalization of 3D articulated volumetric models

3D shape normalization is a common task in various computer graphics and pattern recognition applications. It aims to normalize different objects into a canonical coordinate frame with respect to rigid transformations containing translation, rotation and scaling in order to guarantee a unique representation. However, the conventional normalization approaches do not perform well when dealing wit...

Volumetric medical images segmentation using shape constrained deformable models

In this paper we address the problem of extracting geometric models from low contrast volumetric images, given a template or reference shape of that model. We proceed by deforming a reference model in a volumetric image. This reference deformable model is represented as a simplex mesh submitted to regularizing shape constraint. Furthermore, we introduce an original approach that combines the de...
